Fayette Co.

The annual Fayette County Fair Queen contest is held during the first day of the Fayette County Fair. Girls ages sixteen to twenty-one with community involvement are eligible to run. Judging is based on personality, attitude, leadership, citizenship, contribution to the community, overall appearance, charm and poise.

2018 Fayette County Fair Queen, Megan Niewoehner

Megan Niewoehner, an at-large candidate from Hawkeye was crowned the 2018 Fayette County Fair Queen. Megan is a 2019 Sumner Fredericksburg Graduate. Megan was involved in cross country, basketball, track and field, strength and conditioning, choir, show choir, Gold Honor Roll, National Honor Society. She served as her senior class vice president and is secretary of her FFA chapter. Megan is also very active in her community 4-H club, the Bethel Generators. Her club has helped raise over $310,000 for fairground renovations the past five years. She has exhibited beef, goats, rabbits, and non-livestock projects at the Fayette County Fair for the past 10 years.


2018 Fayette Co. Fair Princess, Gene Anne Berst

Gene Anne Berst, Miss Waucoma, was crowned the 2018 Fayette Co. Fair Princess. Gene Anne just completed her sophomore year at Wartburg, where she was active in cheerleading, dance marathon and St. Elizabeth's Choral. Gene Anne has exhibited non-livestock projects in 4-H and open class at the Fayette County Fair including: quilts, photos, food, artwork, produce and plants.  She has also exhibited open class quilts at the Iowa State Fair..
